It can be difficult to buy a car, truck, or SUV. Even after you have done some research and chosen a manufacturer, there are still many things to do. It's more than simply typing "best Irvine BMW dealer" into the search engine and hoping for the best. That's a great place to start. But what do you do when you have so many results? Follow these simple steps and use a little bit of knowledge to get rid of some dealers and find the right one. You can do all of this while you are looking at a dealer website. This will save you the hassle and time of visiting a dealership only for it to be wrong. Although I cannot guarantee a perfect car buying experience, these tips will make it easier for you to focus on the important thing: Finding the right vehicle for you.

Tip #1: Pay attention to the hours and phone numbers

Although it may seem obvious or strange, this is about more than finding out where to go and how to contact them. Think about this: A good car dealership will want your business and be proud to show you what they have to offer. This means that they will want you to contact them. If you can't find an address or any other information, it should be a sign that they aren't pushing their boundaries more. Although you may be able to go to a dealership once and get a car, you will likely need to contact them now and again. It's important to know their phone numbers and when they can be reached for any questions or concerns after a purchase. You must be able to locate not only a single number but also the operating hours of each department so that you can reach the person you need.

Tip #2: Pay attention to the location

This may seem obvious, but it is about much more than how to get there. It's tempting to choose an out-of-state dealership to save money on your purchase. It is tempting to save money, but you should also consider the long-term consequences of buying a vehicle. What if the financing program you chose requires that you pay in cash? That's a long distance to drive if you need to make payments in person. If you have any maintenance or repairs to your vehicle, it could be a similar journey. The inconvenience and gas mileage of going to another dealership for repairs or maintenance could offset any money saved.

Tip #3: Explore Your Financing Options

You must know what you will pay for your vehicle before you do anything else. It is important to know whether you will require traditional financing through a bank, a similar lender, or low-credit financing through a Buy Here/Pay Here dealer. You should be able to see the dealership website to determine what type of financing they offer as well as who they are interested in working with. It doesn't make sense to spend time looking at online inventory and then go to a dealer to see the cars, only to find out that you cannot finance the car. This is something you should have at least partially worked out in advance. The dealer's website should also make it easy before you go. Don't worry if the dealer website doesn’t offer to finance.

Tip #4: Make sure you check out the inventory

With everything else in life, you can browse models, do research and choose the right model for yourself online. Good dealerships will provide information on the models that they have in stock. This allows you to browse their inventory from the comfort of home. There are always inventory changes so make sure you call before you go.

When you browse the online inventory of a dealer, consider both new and used cars. While you might be tempted to buy a brand new car, you may find that used cars can offer you the best value and save you money. You don't have to limit your choices - you can browse both new and used inventories online.

Tip #5 - Look for reviews

As with all online shopping, you should look at reviews about any dealership that interests you. Reviews should be posted on the dealership's website as well as third-party websites that offer information about car dealers. Negative reviews are acceptable, but you shouldn't let that stop you from looking at positive reviews. Although there is no perfect world, reviews can help you get a feel for what others have said about the business.

Tip #6 - Find a business philosophy

Although it is not as important as information like inventory and financing options, any dealership website should include a business philosophy. Although it might not be called "philosophy" on the website, you will usually find information about the dealership's management on the site (usually on the "About Us” page). Dealerships should not only focus on customer service but also honesty, integrity, and building good relationships with customers. A dealership that emphasizes community development and relationships is a positive sign. This means that the business views itself as part and parcel of the local community and works with residents.
