Materials Needed:
- Wax (soy, beeswax, or paraffin)
- Wick (cotton or pre-waxed)
- Container (glass jars, tin cans, or ceramic cups)
- Essential oils (optional, for fragrance)
- Crayons (optional, for color)
- Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
- Wooden skewer or chopstick
Instructions:
- Prepare the Wick:
- Attach the wick to the bottom of the container using hot glue or a wick sticker. Wrap the top around a skewer balanced across the container to keep it centered.
- Melt the Wax:
- Use a double boiler to melt the wax slowly. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring each time.
- Add Fragrance and Color:
- Once fully melted, stir in essential oils (about 10-15 drops per 8 oz of wax). Add a small piece of crayon for color if desired.
- Pour the Wax:
- Carefully pour the melted wax into the container, leaving a bit of space at the top. Make sure the wick stays centered.
- Cool and Set:
- Let the candle cool and harden for at least 4-6 hours (or overnight). Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting.
