After so much planning and several trips to your designers, you have finally received your wedding’s custom made dress. You feel so relieved and relaxed because designing and customizing the wedding dress based on personal thoughts is very complicated. You have to think about every factor and be specific to ensure nothing gets missed out.

For a few, the mission is accomplished after the safe delivery of the dress. But for a few, the tension persists because they have to travel in the custom made dress. This probably happens when a destination wedding is organized. You might be also amongst them. So, you must know the right way to ensure the safety of your wedding dress when traveling.

In this post, we have a few tips to help you travel safely with your custom made dress.

Right wrapping of your dress

A designer dress is usually wrapped keeping all the damaging factors in mind. These things might lack in your custom made dress. The customized dress designer does not pay much attention to wrapping. You should wrap the dress using tissue papers so that beading and embellishments are safe. The tissue paper must be uncoloured and acid-free.

Handle with care

You usually read or hear this phrase when delicate or breakable items are packed or exported. But you should keep this in your mind while traveling with your custom made dress. You should delicately hold the hanger with your dominant hand and drape the garment bag across your opposite shoulder. In case it is touching the floor, lift it and hold it across your opposite arm.

Never keep it with check-in luggage

You never know how check-in luggage is handled and flown away. After giving the handle of your luggage to the cabin crew, you will not get the opportunity to check the condition of your wedding dress. Chances are it will get lost, misdirected, or delayed. So instead of check-in luggage, you should carry the dress on the aircraft cabin and keep it in the captain’s closet or folded on your lap.

Plan your on boarding carefully

In the case of crepe or bearded dress, you should not hang it; instead; you should fold and lay it flat on your lap when you fly. If space is the issue, you should keep the dress on the overhead bin, over any other luggage. If you think things will get messed up while on-boarding, you should connect with the airline beforehand and plan out everything.

Decide on hanging or folding your dress

Both hanging and folding of wedding dress require different precautions. Firstly, you need to decide what’s comfortable and take steps accordingly. While hanging, you should use the special hanging loops and never hang it by the actual shoulders or straps. When folding, you should not press on the folds as it will leave marks behind.

Check the facilities at the venue

Managing things while traveling is not enough to keep your wedding dress in place; you should check the facilities available in the venue. You should ensure that steamer is available onsite so that you can use it on the final day for a touch-up. If it’s not available, we recommend getting one for yourself.

Along with these tips, you should consult your stylist and get other personalized tips for safe traveling with your custom made dress.
