The Global Talent Visa in any sector welcomes the brilliant talents to engage and participate in the UK’s ever-growing economy. It was launched by the UK government on 20th February 2020. Each applicant is expected to verify to the endorsing body a successful career history as an innovator in their respective fields:
as a recognised leader (exceptional talent)
as a self-employed leader (exceptional promise)
As part of your application, you will need to pay the healthcare surcharge. You also have to pay the health surcharge for your dependents. You should know that if your application is refused anyhow, the Home Office will not be able to transfer your money back.
The entry route has also become more easier in that the simplification of the route as compared to the Tier 2 Exceptional Talent Visa. It means that applicants will not have to pay an additional six months of healthcare surcharge.
What are the advantages of coming to the UK with a Global Talent Visa?
Switch employers and job positions without Home Office permission - You can change as many jobs as you want and you would not be questioned by the Home Office. In the end, just keep in mind that you are obliged to perform in an efficient and effective manner so that you can maintain yourself as an "exceptional talent".
A self-employed person or as a freelancer - You can either work as a self-employed person or in a company. The choice is totally yours. You can earn income by doing freelance work.
No requirement of speaking in the English language - There is no need to speak and write the English language at a certain level. You are coming under Global Talent Visa, so your skills and talent are valued the most, not your English knowledge.
Bring your Dependent or family members - You can bring your dependents and family members with you. They should have the required travelling documents and have to meet English language tests.
Not required to earn a minimum wage
Visa provides a route to settlement - You do not have to earn a minimum salary or wage in order to provide a route to settlement. This is one of the great advantages of this visa. As in other types of visa like Tier 2 (General) Visa, you have to show a minimum amount of balance in your bank account.
No need of a Sponsor License - If a company wishes to employ you, they are not required to have a UK sponsor licence (which is generally needed to recruit personnel who belong to other countries).
What does it mean by \'Endorsing Bodies\'?
To be considered for entry through Global Talent visa, applicants must have an endorsement from one of six endorsing bodies assigned by the Home Office.
The Home Office will send your application to the Royal Society or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering if you are applying for endorsement in the fields of the social sciences or the humanities, science, engineering, medicine, or other academic and research roles. These bodies will make an endorsement decision based on the information you are providing.
Your application will be suggested to Arts Council England or Tech Nation if you are applying for endorsement in non-academic fields of arts and culture and digital technology.
These assigned Bodies have two sets of criteria when assessing an Applicant:
Exceptional Talent criteria - applicants who have already ascertained that they have made a notable contribution as a leader to their field.
Exceptional Promise criteria - applicants who have shown their ability to make considerable contributions as a future leader in their fields.
