Points & Rewards

How points work

Every action on WriteUpCafe earns you points. Here’s what counts.

Updated April 12, 2026

Points are WriteUpCafe’s way of rewarding engagement and surfacing active, helpful members. Your total points show on your profile, rank you on the leaderboard, and unlock badges.

How you earn points

Points are awarded automatically when you take these actions:

  • Publishing a writeup — the biggest single payout
  • Writeups getting views and likes — small ongoing rewards as your content performs
  • Commenting — thoughtful engagement pays too
  • Getting replies on your comments — because conversation is what we want
  • Submitting a blog to the directory
  • Approving a guest post on your blog
  • Following someone new (small reward)
  • Being followed (ongoing)
  • Filling out your profile (one-time)
  • Verifying your email (one-time)

How you lose points

Certain actions deduct points:

  • A writeup getting flagged as spam
  • Comments you made being removed for guideline violations
  • A blog submission being rejected for quality

Where to see your points

Visit /points to see your full point history — every action that changed your total, with timestamps. Your current total also appears on your profile and in your account dropdown.

Tip: Points don’t expire and they’re never taken away retroactively. If you earn 100 points for a writeup that later gets deleted, the points stay.
