The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is all set to kick off on September 9 in the UAE, featuring 8 participating teams. A total of 19 matches will be played throughout the tournament, including 12 group-stage games, 6 Super Four matches, and the final. The fixtures will be hosted across two iconic venues — Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Eight teams will participate, divided into two groups of four. India has been placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE. Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. India will begin their campaign against the UAE on 10 September, followed by a high-profile clash with Pakistan on 14 September. However, due to current diplomatic tensions, the match against Pakistan remains uncertain. India’s final group match will be against Oman on 19 September. Following the 12 group-stage matches, the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 4 stage, where each team will play three more matches. The top two teams from the Super 4 will then face off in the Asia Cup 2025 final, scheduled to be held in Dubai on 28 September.
The Indian team squad for the Asia Cup 2025 has officially been revealed. The side will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, with Shubman Gill serving as vice-captain. The squad was announced during a press conference addressed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav. A major highlight is the return of Shubman Gill to the T20I setup, while Jasprit Bumrah is set to feature in the format for the first time since the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Several names are almost certain to feature in the starting lineup — including captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy.
The bigger question mark hangs over Sanju Samson’s place in the XI. Though he has opened for India in recent T20Is, Gill’s return might push Samson down the order — if he finds a place at all.
