IPL 2025 has now reached its final stage. After 63 matches, three teams have confirmed their place in the playoffs. While 5 teams are out of the playoff race. This time in the auction held before IPL, the franchises made record-breaking bids and included the players in their teams. Some franchises expressed confidence in Indian players, while some included foreign players in their teams. Rishabh Pant flopped badly in IPL 2025, whom Lucknow included in their team with a record-breaking bid of Rs 27 crore, but he flopped badly throughout the season, and his team has also been out of the playoff race. But it is not that only performance has happened; many other players have flopped badly this season, as per expectations, and their names. In this article, we will know about those 3 foreign players who have flopped badly in IPL 2025.

1. Shimron Hetmyer (Rajasthan Royals)

Retained by Rajasthan Royals at a significant price of ₹11.00 crore, Hetmyer was expected to be an explosive finisher, providing momentum to the innings in the last moments and converting good starts into match-winning contributions. He has won matches for the Royals with his consistent power-hitting over the last few seasons.

But in the current IPL 2025 season, Hetmyer has managed to score just 239 runs in 13 innings at an average of 21.72 and a strike rate of 145.73. He has only one half-century to his name this season, with his highest cricket score being 52 runs. Given his price, these numbers may look disappointing. Rajasthan Royals released a brilliant player like Buttler for Hetmyer, but the Caribbean batsman could not do anything for Rajasthan. Due to his failure, Rajasthan has already been out of the playoff race long ago. There were many encounters throughout the tournament when Rajasthan could have won the match, but Hetmyer failed every time.

2. Devon Conway (Chennai Super Kings)

After a brilliant season in 2023, where he was CSK's leading run-scorer, Conway was expected to provide stability at the top of the order for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. Bought for ₹6.25 crore, Conway flopped badly this time around. Unfortunately for CSK, Devon Conway has played only 5 matches this season, scoring just 104 runs at an average of 20.80 and a strike rate of 123.80, including a half-century. Although the average is respectable, he could not play many matches for Chennai due to injury, and whenever he was given a chance, he flopped. Even in the matches he has played, his strike rate has been much lower than what one would expect in T20 cricket. Due to the injury, he is expected to be out of the remaining matches of IPL 2025 as well.

3. Glenn Maxwell (Punjab Kings)

Bought by Punjab Kings for ₹4.20 crore, Maxwell was expected to lead the team to victory with his explosive middle-order batting and excellent off-spin. Maxwell, who has played for Punjab before, was expected to completely change the course of the game for Punjab. But Maxwell once again disappointed the supporters of Punjab Kings. Glenn Maxwell played only seven matches in IPL 2025 and scored just 48 runs, at an average of 8. He is out for the remaining season due to a finger fracture. Although he definitely got some wickets for the team with his bowling, due to injury, his main role as a power-hitter could not work this season.
