Steve Smith and Virat Kohli have long been regarded as two of the world's top batsmen. They are actually two of the most notable cricket players in the last ten years. Since leading India to a U19 World Cup in 2008, Kohli has been destined for greatness and has more than lived up to the hype. In contrast, Smith began his career as a leg spinner but has subsequently developed into one of the greatest batsmen of our time. It makes sense that there has always been a rivalry between these two batting titans, with fans and commentators holding differing views. Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are also members of the "Fab Four," which also includes Joe Root and Kane Williamson.
Australia Will Become The Battleground
India and Australia will resume their rivalry on November 22 when they play the five-match Border Gavaskar series. In their long-standing rivalry, Australia has an advantage over Team India. In the last two series, India has crushed Australia on their home ground, and they will once again put their faith in themselves to succeed. No doubt, Virat Kohli will be the center of attention from the Indian camp, while Steve Smith will be the main focus from the Australian side. The two batting greats have scored a lot of runs for their teams, and their performance will be very important in the upcoming cricket matches.
It's interesting to note that both the modern-day cricket legends have scored 2042 runs. Virat has 2042 runs in 25 games since playing his first Test match against Australia in 2011. Smith has participated in 19 Test matches since his debut against India in 2013. A one-year ban prevented him from competing in the 2018-19 Border Gavaskar Trophy. While Kohli's average is below 50 (47.48), Smith's average is a strong 65.87. The goal for both batsmen would be to rank second in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in terms of runs scored. Ricky Ponting now holds the second position. In 29 Test matches against India, the former captain of Australia amassed 2555 runs. Evidently, Smith and Virat are both 514 runs away from passing Ponting and they might inch even closer in their next cricket match.
In the 2014-15 Border Gavaskar Trophy, both batsmen were at the top of their game, and they intend to repeat that performance. Smith scored 769 runs at an average of 128.26 while batting. Four hundred and two half-centuries were included in his total. At an average of 86.50, Virat hammered 692 runs. He scored four and a half centuries. In the first and fourth Test matches, he led India as captain. Even if Virat Kohli is a fantastic Test batsman of the present era, Steve Smith clearly outperforms him in this particular game style. Smith surpassed Kohli in terms of numbers and contributions to his nation's cause. However, Kohli might prove to be a game-changer in the India upcoming cricket series.
